Blueprint for Accountability Overview
Launched in 2009 by Culture Project, Blueprint for Accountability is a groundbreaking series designed to address some of the most pressing issues of our time through public discourse and action. By bringing together influential thinkers, activists, and public figures from various fields, the series fosters critical discussions on topics such as international law, criminal justice, immigration, and the war on terror.
Blending live theater and investigative journalism, Blueprint for Accountability has hosted high-profile panelists like Rachel Maddow, Dr. Cornel West, Ron Suskind, and Naomi Klein. The series investigates the intersection of morality, governance, and human rights, empowering individuals and communities to hold leaders accountable in both government and corporate institutions.
The first installment, Working the Dark Side, premiered on May 31, 2009, and called attention to the role of the U.S. military and government in war crimes and torture. This multimedia event, which featured Lt. General Ricardo Sanchez and Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Ron Suskind, sparked a call for a truth commission to investigate Bush-era interrogation and torture tactics.
